Overview
Pharmaceutical cargo fails differently from other freight. A pallet of electronics that arrives late is late; a pallet of vaccines that spends four hours above its range may arrive on time and be worthless, and nothing about the box will show it. That is why cold chain work is judged on evidence rather than on arrival — the consignment has to be accompanied by a record showing what temperature it held for the whole journey, including the handovers, where most excursions actually happen.
Controlled transport
Vehicles held to the range the product requires, whether that is 2–8°C, a frozen band, or controlled ambient.
Controlled storage
Temperature-held space at origin, transit, and destination, so the product is never parked outside its range between legs.
Continuous monitoring
Temperature logged through the journey rather than checked at each end, so an excursion is visible with the time and place it happened.
Documented handover
Custody recorded at each transfer point — the loading dock, the transit hub, and the delivery — because that is where a chain most often breaks.
Excursion handling
A defined response when a reading goes out of range: the consignment is flagged, quarantined if required, and the decision to release or reject is the consignor’s, not the carrier’s.

The temperature record issued with proof of delivery, so the receiving party can accept the goods against evidence.
